Private email. Private chat. One app.
MichkaMC is a secure email client for Android with built-in end-to-end encrypted messaging. No phone number required, no ads, no tracking. Your data stays yours.
No phone number
Your chat identity is a keypair created on your device. Share it as a QR code or link.
End-to-end encrypted
Conversations are protected with the Signal protocol: X3DH and the Double Ratchet.
Zero-knowledge relay
The server only ever sees encrypted envelopes. It cannot read anything.
Encrypted on device
Mail, chats, contacts and calendar live in encrypted databases, protected by your PIN.
Messaging that knows nothing about you
MichkaMC chat was designed so that no server, no operator and no eavesdropper can learn who you are or what you say.
An identity without an account
No phone number, no email address, no sign-up. A cryptographic keypair is generated on your device and never leaves it. Share your address as a QR code or link, or stay hidden and be reachable only by people you choose.
Proven cryptography
Every conversation uses the Signal protocol (X3DH key agreement and the Double Ratchet), built on X25519, Ed25519, HKDF-SHA256 and AES-256-GCM, with a fresh key for every single message.
A relay that cannot read
Messages travel through a zero-knowledge relay that stores and forwards only encrypted envelopes. It never holds keys or plaintext, and you can self-host your own relay.
Private attachments
Documents, photos, audio and video travel inside the same end-to-end encryption as your messages and are stored encrypted on your device.
Notifications that say nothing
Push notifications are content-free wake-up signals. The push provider never sees who wrote to you or what was written.
No read receipts
By design, MichkaMC does not report delivery or read status back to the sender. What you read, and when, is your business.
A real email client, built for privacy
Standards-based mail that works with any provider, hardened against tracking by default.
All your accounts
Up to 10 accounts over IMAP, POP3 and SMTP, with automatic server discovery and OAuth2 sign-in for major providers. Each account lives in its own isolated, encrypted database.
Tracking pixels, blocked
Messages open as plain text with remote images blocked by default, so tracking pixels never fire. Load HTML and images only when you decide to.
TLS everywhere
Every connection to your mail server is encrypted and certificate-checked. No plaintext fallback, ever.
Everything you expect
Compose, reply, forward, drafts, folders, attachments up to 100 MB, contact autocomplete and new-mail notifications with your own sound.
Encrypted at rest, unlocked only by you
Everything MichkaMC stores (mail, messages, keys, contacts, calendar) lives in SQLCipher-encrypted databases and encrypted files. A master key protects your data and is itself wrapped by your PIN together with your device's hardware keystore.
There is no back door and no recovery server: without your PIN on your device, the data cannot be decrypted.

Frequently asked questions
Is MichkaMC free?
Yes. MichkaMC is free for personal, noncommercial use. The source code is available under the PolyForm Noncommercial License 1.0.0. Commercial use requires a separate license.
Do I need a phone number or an email address to chat?
No. Your chat identity is a cryptographic keypair generated on your device. You share it as a QR code or link. You can also enable hidden mode, so you can only be reached by people you have shared your code with.
Can the server read my messages?
No. The relay is zero-knowledge: it stores and forwards only end-to-end encrypted envelopes and never holds keys or plaintext. Even a compromised relay cannot read your conversations.
What encryption does the chat use?
The Signal protocol (X3DH key agreement and the Double Ratchet) with X25519, Ed25519, HKDF-SHA256 and AES-256-GCM, implemented as first-party code on the BouncyCastle cryptography library.
Which email protocols are supported?
IMAP, POP3 and SMTP with enforced TLS, automatic server discovery (autoconfig, ISPDB, DNS SRV) and OAuth2 sign-in for major providers. Up to 10 accounts, each in its own isolated, encrypted database.
Can I host my own relay server?
Yes. The relay is self-hostable, and the relay address is configurable in the app settings, so you can point MichkaMC at your own server.
What happens if I forget my PIN?
MichkaMC has no back door: your PIN and your device's hardware keystore together protect the master key, so a forgotten PIN means the local data cannot be decrypted. Portable encrypted backups are on the roadmap.
Does MichkaMC collect any data?
No. There are no analytics, no telemetry and no advertising SDKs. Push notifications are content-free wake-ups; the push provider never sees message content or sender.
Does the chat have read receipts?
No, by design. MichkaMC does not report delivered or read status back to the sender.
Which Android versions are supported?
Android 8.0 (API 26) and newer.
